Each metre carries minor variations from the hand-printing process — a hallmark of authenticity. Power-printed cotton is clearly labelled separately.

Q4. Can I machine-wash cotton printed fabric?

A4. Yes, Saroj's cotton printed fabrics are machine-washable on gentle cycle in cold water. For the first wash, hand-wash separately to allow excess dye to release (especially for hand block prints). Avoid bleach. Iron on medium heat. Hand-printed colours soften beautifully over the first 3 to 5 washes.

Q5. How much cotton printed fabric do I need for a kurti or kurta?

A5. A standard kurti requires 2.25 to 2.5 metres of 44-inch cotton fabric. A kurta (men's) needs 2.5 to 3 metres. A kurti-pajama set needs 2.5 metres for the kurti plus 2 metres for the pajama. Add 25 cm extra if pre-shrinking.

Q6. Are mul mul, mul cotton, and muslin the same fabric?

A6. Mul mul is a very fine, soft cotton variant traditional to Bengal and South India. Mul cotton refers to plain mul mul without prints. Muslin is the broader category that includes mul mul plus heavier muslin variants. All are sheer, breathable, and ideal for layered Indian wear.

Q7. Do you have cotton printed fabric suitable for summer in Mumbai humidity?

A7. Yes. Mul mul cotton printed and cotton lawn printed are the recommended Saroj fabrics for Mumbai's humid summer. Both are extra-light (60 to 90 GSM), highly breathable, and dry quickly when damp. Pure cotton printed at 100 to 120 GSM is the everyday workhorse.
